Along these streeets you will find many independent shops, some wonderful tea rooms and many bistros, cafes and restaurants offering superb food from the best of local produce.You can get a good overview of the town and the beautiful harbour with a stroll out along the Esplanade passing the grand parade of Edwardian and Victorian houses to the medieval St Catherine’s Castle which looks out over the harbour entrance and Readymoney Cove. Alternatively, you can see the town from the water with a trip on board one of the pleasure boats that regularly depart from the Town Quay steps. Cruises take you upriver past the docks, where you will see huge china clay ships being loaded with cargo, and out to sea taking in the best views of the town. A visit to Fowey’s Museum and you can see an interesting collection recording Fowey’s rich and varied history. This includes Mayoral Regalia, costumes, old photographs, models of old sailing ships and postcards.Pop into the charmingly old fashioned Fowey Aquarium on the Town Quay where you can literally get in touch with local sea creatures in the petting pool. Or, take to the water yourself and rent an open cockpit canoe from the owner direct, perfect for observing the abundant river wildlife and a real adventure even if you’re a total noviceThere are also many fantastic coastal and woodland walks around the area including the Hall Walk.Fowey is a delightful , unspoilt little seaside town on the south coast of Cornwall. Fowey is all about the river and the sea and has a picturesque town quay and a delightful, sheltered beach at Readymoney Cove. Boats can be hired to explore the creeks and inlets while sailing and diving courses can be arranged. Kayaking is also very popular. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the exciting Eden Project are about 20 minutes away.
