Liverpool is famous for its football, music and its culture especially its nightlife. You can spend an afternoon at The Beatles museum and enjoy a night out at the Cavern Club where the band famously performed. There are 7 free museums to explore in Liverpool and it is well worth a visit to ponder modern art at the Tate Liverpool or entertain the kids at the excellent World Museum Liverpool. The city is home to two of the Premier League’s biggest football teams – Liverpool FC and Everton FC.
Many of the main attractions are concentrated around the historic Albert Dock. It has two stunning cathedrals, one Anglican, one Roman Catholic and ironically the road that joins them is called Hope Street. It’s free to look around the main part of both cathedrals. Liverpool and the surrounding area has some stunning beaches one is Formby Beach which is spectacular and huge, backed by sand dunes and pine woods, perfect for nature walks! A few miles north of the city centre is Crosby Beach, home to Antony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’, an art installation. Cuthbert’s Bakehouse on Mt. Pleasant is well known for afternoon tea. Panoramic 34 is another great choice, with unparalleled views over this wonderful city. Liverpool by night is incredible and Liverpool One is great for shopping. There’s all the usual shops, plus restaurants, bars, and a cinema.
