Puerto del Carmen is a great place to walk along along a promenade to the old town i one direction or in the opposite direction to Matagorda. Beyond this on the pedestrians only section you can plane spot at the airport which is based at Arrecife
Lanzarote has an excellent road system that connects all the main tourist attractions, and is ideal for exploring small villages and scenic areas.
The island has been developed under the direction of local artist Caesar Manrique who designed some lovely sites to visit. James del Aguascalientes, Cuevas Verdes and Manrique foundation to name but a few. You will also spot his wind sculptures all over the island.
Rancho Texas theme park is just 10 mins walk away and is a full day out with a zoo, animal shows and a water park. Lunch in the cafe is good value and can be enjoyed whilst you watch a parrot show and lasso demonstration.
Car hire is cheap , or there are lots of day trips to other parts of the island.
There are good, economical restaurants nearby and a huge selection of food styles to suit all tastes. Spanish wines are very cheap in local supermarkets . Watch the great sunsets overlooking the sea.
