Hidden in the beautiful Seaton river valley, Jopes Mill is an 18th century watermill, with its waterwheel and internal machinery still intact. Its conversion to provide luxury 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom accommodation was completed in the Spring of 2020, preserving its original features and making it a truly unique place to stay.

On the ground floor the beautifully lit mill machinery provides a spectacular backdrop for the dining room, with access to a private terrace overlooking the garden and river. The neighbouring kitchen is newly fitted with dishwasher, washer/drier, fridge/freezer, etc. On the first floor the lounge has two pairs of original millstones and an oak beamed ceiling, with a wood burning stove and a plentiful supply of wood.

The first-floor bedroom is double height and can be arranged with a king size double bed or two small singles – it has a skylight which floods the room with light. The second-floor bedroom has a king size double bed and the original roof beams, with views down to the river and up into the woods. There is a sofa bed in the lounge for additional flexibility. There is a bathroom with a shower on the first floor and a further bathroom with a bath on the second floor.

Visitors to Jopes Mill and Lodge have unlimited private access to 5 acres of riverside gardens and woodland, including 400 meters of the beautiful River Seaton. Whether you want to take a stroll around the many paths and lawns, build dens in the woods, have camp-fires in the fire pits, or just sit and watch the river go by, this is the perfect setting. At the end of the garden is a 50 metre long waterlily lake which is in bloom through until September.

Jopes mill is only 3.5 miles from the beach at Seaton - it's a beautiful walk along the river to the sea. Looe is 10 mins away by car and Polperro 20 mins. Looking inland Bodmin Moor is only 15 mins away. There is a huge range of things to do in the area, from spectacular coastal walks to National Trust houses and gardens. For all its beauty, SE Cornwall is less well known, and less busy, than many other parts of Cornwall.

The mill has superfast broadband wifi and a smart TV, We have carefully selected and tested hotel quality beds with pocket sprung mattresses, satin stripe luxury bedding and lovely soft towels.

For larger groups the nearby Jopes Lodge can be booked at the same time - SimplyOwners reference P217477

Jopes Mill

By Keith, Lin, John and Angie on 13-Jul-2021

We have just returned from a four night stay at Jopes Mill. It more than lived up to our expectations in every way and we had a wonderful stay from start to finish. We were welcomed with a lovely cream tea and were given a tour of the accommodation. The information booklet was very useful and informative. The cottage itself was spotless with two equally luxurious bedrooms/bathrooms to choose from and was in a beautiful setting. It gives you a feeling of being miles away from anywhere but was in fact within easy reach of many beautiful places. We cannot recommend Jopes Mill highly enough and look forward to returning.

Jopes Mill

By Dave and Jane on 28-Jun-2021

We've just returned from a two weeks holiday in Cornwall. We spent our first week in the beautiful Jopes Mill....Wow! What a pleasurable stay it was too! The mill has been converted to a very high standard (credit to the owners) and the grounds are just stunning. There is so much to see and do around the mill and surrounding area. We were greeted by Nick and Sally on arrival and the afternoon tea was very much appreciated! We had the perfect week in the most peaceful, tranquil setting...and really didn't want to leave. Thanks again...it was a real pleasure to stay in your accommodation

Jopes Mill

By Peter and Margaret on 28-Jun-2021

Very recently my wife and I and some friends had the fortune to spend a week at Jopes Mill. We had a great time. It is set in a beautiful and tranquil wooded valley with a fast flowing stream right by.The mill has been converted to a very high standard with much of the workings still on display. It is well appointed, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is agreat base to explore the surrounding area. The cliff walk from Looe to Polperro is demanding but spectacular and well worth the effort. There are a couple of nice restaurants in Looe on the harbour side The Fish Market and The Old Sale Loft which we can recommend.Booking is a must. Nick and Sally are very friendly hosts and are always available to help if needed and we can thoroughly recommend a stay. Hope we can return soon !
