Overview
Description
One of Fort Leicester’s most quirky features is that it is built into the surrounding rock face, creating three different levels that require guests to move outside to get from one room to another, with sections of grass in between. The original guardhouse is now the main bedroom, with one king bed and two single beds and a wood-burning stove. The lower-level former military magazines are now a bedroom with two single beds. A later addition to the Fort is the searchlight housing from the Second World War, which now boasts a fully fitted kitchen with a lounge and dining area and double sofa bed.
There is a private garden and a terrace where a gun emplacement once stood – perfect for eating outdoors and watching fishing boats go in and out of the harbour. You can also explore the small beach below the Fort or take in the winding coastal paths to the nearby (equally scenic) bays. There is a beach cafe located in Bouley Bay, which is also home to one of Jersey’s diving schools.

Wholesome family fun - Endless rain didn't dampen adventure
By Claire from St Helier on 23-Feb-2026Stayed for a few days over the half-term holiday. While the weather made trips to the toilet and moving between the rooms a little soggy - we still had a brilliant family stay. Once the children got over the lack of WiFi we appreciated the quality time playing board games, making the most of the peace and solitude - the rain kept people away so we felt like Bouley Bay was our own little private playground. Lovely kitchen and facilities, stocked with everything we needed. Lovely and warm inside the rooms (I had been expecting it to be chilly but was lovely and cosy). A perfect place to reset and recharge and spend time with loved ones.
Wonderful stay
By Guest from St Ouen on 12-May-2026Our family of 5 had a fab time at the Fort. Our children age 9 and above loved it! The amenities were great, kitchen well supplied, bedrooms comfortable with nice linen. A lovely bay with lots to do, pier jumping, fishing, cliff walks, swimming.
Historic holiday happiness. We loved the multiple nooks and crannies and the great view.
By Philippa from Woodstock on 01-Jun-2026The site is amazing. Jumping off the pier at any tide into clean clear water was terrific. Mad Mary makes delicious hamburgers. We loved Fort Leicester.
