Kirkby Stephen Holiday Cottages

Kirkby Stephen is hidden away below the slopes of Crosby Garrett fell, the village has changed little since the Settle-Carlisle railway built its impressive viaduct across which the trains still rumble.  For those who like a peaceful  location, surrounded by beautiful countryside, this is a good choice.  The abundant wildlife includes  red squirrels, owls, deer and some rare butterflies. There are walks by the Scandal beck, through the nature reserve that is a disused railway line ending in the famed Smardale viaduct with views to the Howgills, or up over the fells with views to the Penines and the Lake District, all of which are within easy reach. The two market towns of  Appleby and Kirkby Stephen are equally unspoilt with a good range of traditional shops ad restaurants. Accommodation varies from holiday cottages, to farmhouses and even converted barns.
